NVIDIA’s $2B Leap: Building the 5-Gigawatt "AI Factory" Cloud of 2026

In a move that signifies a massive shift in the global AI infrastructure landscape, NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) has announced a $2 billion strategic investment in neocloud operator Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS). Finalized on March 11, 2026, this partnership is designed to architect and deploy the next generation of "AI Factories"—hyperscale data centers purpose-built for the agentic era of artificial intelligence.

This collaboration aims to address the capacity constraints currently plaguing traditional cloud providers. By 2030, NVIDIA and Nebius plan to deploy over 5 gigawatts of compute capacity across several gigawatt-scale hubs, with a significant focus on the United States and Europe. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that the deal reflects deep confidence in Nebius’s full-stack engineering expertise, particularly in optimizing software for high-density GPU clusters.

The Rise of the Agentic Cloud

As inference overtakes training as the primary cloud AI workload, these new facilities are designed to support trillions of tokens per second. Nebius will be an early adopter of NVIDIA’s latest hardware, including the Rubin platform and Vera CPUs, to provide a seamless transition for AI-native startups and large enterprises. This investment underscores NVIDIA's broader strategy to diversify its infrastructure partners and ensure that massive scale is available to all sectors of the AI economy.
