Oracle’s AI Pivot Pays Off: Cloud Revenue Surges 44%

Modern High-Tech Data Center Infrastructure

Oracle Corporation has delivered a significant blow to competitors in the cloud space, reporting stronger-than-expected fiscal third-quarter results for 2026. The company’s focus on specialized AI infrastructure is yielding concrete financial results, with total cloud revenue climbing 44% to $8.9 billion. The infrastructure business alone saw an 84% gain, reaching $4.9 billion as the company races to fulfill massive contracts for industry giants like OpenAI and Meta Platforms.

One of the most striking metrics from the report is the $30 billion surge in Oracle's revenue backlog within a single quarter. This influx of bookings is primarily attributed to large-scale AI training and inference deals. Oracle executives noted that demand for AI computing capacity continues to outpace available supply, prompting the company to forecast a revenue target of $90 billion for fiscal year 2027.

Beyond hardware, Oracle is leveraging generative AI internally to streamline its operations. The company revealed that AI-assisted code generation has allowed it to restructure development teams into smaller, more efficient units, accelerating the expansion of its Software as a Service (SaaS) portfolio while simultaneously lowering operational costs.
